Situation

What rights are required to authenticate a user with the iPrint management command line tool (iprntman)?

Resolution

The user must be LUM enabled and have the Supervisor right to the UNIX Workstation object which represents the Linux server hosting the Print Manager.

  1. LUM enable the user for the UNIX Workstation object that represents the Linux server.
    • iManager -> Linux User Management -> Enable Users for Linux -> browse to the user -> select the Existing eDir Group of admingroup -> highlight the Unix Workstation object representing the iPrint Linux server -> Finish
  2. Add the user as a trustee of the UNIX Workstation object that represents the Linux server and assign the Supervisor right for the Entry Rights property.
    • iManager -> Rights -> Modify Trustees -> browse to the UNIX Workstation object that represents the Linux server -> add the user as a trustee -> click the "Assign Rights" link -> check the Supervisor box for the Entry Rights property -> done -> apply 
  3. Add the authenticated user as Manager of the Print Manager
    • iManager -> iPrint -> Manage Print Manager -> Access Control -> Add the user to the Manager role -> OK
  4. Restarted OpenWEBM
    • rcowcimomd restart
  5. Restart the NAM Cache Daemon
    • rcnamcd restart
  6. Test the authentication
    • iprntman psm -l
