Situation
Per Bind 9 (see https://www.isc.org/software/bind ) Views for DNS is defined as follows:
- One server process can provide multiple "views" of the DNS namespace, e.g. an "inside" view to certain clients, and an "outside" view to others.
For example, if User A, outside of the firewall, tries to resolve novell.com, they may receive a public address. If the same user, or another user inside the firewall try to resolve novell.com, they may receive a NAT address to a different server.
Resolution
As of August 19, 2009, neither NetWare nor OES Linux support DNS views. BIND 9, however, DOES support DNS views. SLES 10 and 11, which ship with BIND 9, support DNS views. DNS or BIND integrated with eDirectory does not currently support DNS views.
