Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2


If the license is not expired, why may this error be seen during imaging?
ERROR:  "Unable to connect to preboot server. The product license might have expired."


Assuming the license is not expired, this error can be a generic one meaning there are underlying communications issues.  In this case, the logs should show more information about the error.

Check novell-zenimgweb.conf from %ZENWORKS_HOME%\conf\preboot\novell-zenimgweb.conf or /etc/opt/novell/zenworks/preboot/novell-zenimgweb.conf that proper address and port are available. 
For example, the following from novell-pbserv.log indicates a certificate problem where the subject did not agree with DNS server name.  In this case fixing DNS corrected the problem:
