"Error: Initializing SOAP 856B" on the MTA

Situation

  • MTA displays the following error message, "Error Initializing SOAP 856B".
  • Migrated agents from NetWare to Linux.
  • Multiple MTAs on the Linux server.
  • MTA's web interface may not be working.

Resolution

Please apply GroupWise 8 Support Pack 1.  If unable to apply GroupWise 8 Support Pack 1, this may be fixed by using the --soapport <port#> switch, and specifying a port number where the <port#> is, if the work around does not help then GroupWise 8 Support Pack 1 will have to be used.

Additional Information

The SOAP port for the MTA was added for the new web services API, but is not currently used or supported by the code.
Port 7161 is the default SOAP port for the MTA.
