Situation
Error saving changes to user preferences on GroupWise client for Mac or Linux
Error: "Attempt to access controlled feature denied"
Resolution
In the GroupWise client for Macintosh and Linux, there are categories of settings such as Environment, Send, Security, etc which each contain lots of individual settings.
The problem was caused when a user attempted to modify a setting (such as changing their Signature text), but their GroupWise system administrator had locked down a different setting within that "Send" group. When applying the change to the signature file, the GroupWise client would attempt to re-save all settings under the "Send" category, and would pop up the error when it tried to write to a setting that had been locked down by the system administrator.
Novell anticipates that this issue will be resolved in GroupWise 8.0 Support Pack 1.
