Situation

Novell Identity Manager 3.6.1 installation fails on Linux when it tries to extend schema
Schema failed to extend
Fail to extend schema if the user's password has special character in it
Fail to extend schema if the user's password has a dollar sign in it
Schema extension failed during Identity Manager installation

Resolution

If the user password has any special character in it Novell Identity Manager 3.6.1 installation fails during schema extension

This is a known issue and reported to engineering

Workaround: Install Novell Identity Manager with a user that has password without any special character
