Resolution

The POA was not running as a user with proper rights. Even if root is logged into the X-session, it is possible to run GroupWise as a non-root user.

The following command will show which user is running a GroupWise POA if the POA is loaded.
At a terminal type: ps -aux | grep gwpoa

The far left column will display which user is running the agent.

The following file can be populated with a user to allow the GroupWise agents to run non-root.
/etc/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/uid.conf

The uid.conf file can be deleted to test running as root, or modify the file as needed. The specified user in the file must have rights to the post office or domain directory.  On a NSS volume the user must be LUM enabled.
