Environment

Novell Cluster Services 1.8.4
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux

Situation

Getting a error 21625 zERR_MSAP_BLOCK_SIGNATURE_MISSING error when trying to activate a NSS pool.

Resolution

Check the /var/log/messages file to make sure that this is not just a symptom of a bigger problem.  In this case we would see I/O errors in the /var/log/messages and pool deactivation errors.

Rebuild the MSAP data on the Pool.
  1. Use "nsscon" console, Note: May need to press "Enter" several times or "C" for continues to get to the console.  Enter the command "nss /pools" to find out the status of the pool.
  2. Make the pool deactive if it is not already with "nss /pooldeactivate=POOLNAME"  replace POOLNAME with the problem pool name.
  3. Rebuild the MSAP data with "nss /MSAPRebuild=POOLNAME" you should see a message that it was rebuild.
  4. Use NSSMU to activate the pool and mount the volume or if in a cluster use the cluster resource script to do this.
