Situation
- Supportconfig hangs during execution in OES 1 or 2 clustered
environments
- High utilization on eDirectory or ndsd process seen while running supportconfig script
- High utilization on eDirectory or ndsd process seen while running supportconfig script
Resolution
The supportconfig script is using an eDirectory command line
utility called "ndsstat" with the "-s" command line option to
gather the status of eDirectory servers. This utility has a problem
while attempting to read the status of the virtual cluster server
objects and leads to a hang on the supportconfig side and high
utilization on the eDirectory server side.
This problem has been reported to Engineering and a fix will be available for OES 2 customers with eDirectory 88 Support Pack 5 which will be bundled with OES 2 Support Pack 2.
Until then, the only workaround is to comment out the "ndsstat -s" command in the supportconfig script before running it. This is also the only option available to OES 1 customers currently while Engineering investigates a fix.
