Environment
Novell eDirectory 8.8 for Linux
Novell Identity Manager 3.6
Situation
Customer noticed that TAO files were present and growing on a server that was not a member of any IDM driverset..
Investigation showed that the replicas had been added to this server via the dibclone process.
The original server that had been cloned was a member of a driverset and it was the tao files for this set of drivers that was present on the new server.
The Dibclone process has copied across a DirXML-DriversetDN attribute on the psuedoserver object. Once IDM was installed it started caching events for drivers in this driverset.

Resolution
A simple fix as follows :
1. Add the new server to the driverset.
2. Disable the drivers on the new server. This cleared out the cache files.
3. Remove the new server from the driverset.
