How to access GroupWise 8.x post office with GroupWise 7.x and 8.x client

Situation

When you upgrade your GroupWise system from 7.x to 8.x and want to access GroupWise 8.x post office using Groupwise 7.x client as well as GroupWise 8.x client.

Resolution

In GroupWise 8.x, the English view files are named differently than they were in  GroupWise 7.x.  The GroupWise 7.x client still requests these files when connected to the Post Office. 

If the Post Office was upgraded from the previous version, please do the following.

From a GroupWise 8.x software distribution directory, copy the contents of the<SDD>/CLIENT/WINDOWS/OFVIEWS  directory to the OFVIEWS directory below the Post Office.

When prompted for overwrite say 'Yes' to all.

If the Post Office was not upgraded from a previous version, please do the following.

Rename the existing folders inside OFVIEWS

1.  From a GroupWise 7.x software distribution directory, copy the contents of  the<SDD>/CLIENT/WINDOWS/OFVIEWS  directory to the OFVIEWS directory below the Post Office.

2.  From a GroupWise 8.x software distribution directory, copy the contents of the<SDD>/CLIENT/WINDOWS/OFVIEWS  directory to the OFVIEWS directory below the Post Office.

 When prompted for overwrite say 'Yes' to all.

The first step will copy in the view files needed for the 7.x client.  The second step will update those files needed for all clients to function properly.
