Situation
- After starting ndsd, the customer quickly gets -6038 ERROR_CLOSING_DATABASE errors. ndsd is still running as a process, but will not service client requests or sync with other replica holders.
- eDirectory will not open
- df -h command shows the filesystem mounted on /var is 100% full
Resolution
The partition that contains the dib is full.
By default the eDirectory dib is stored in the /var directory, so cleaning up application and system log files may be in order, or the administrator may need to take steps to add space to the partition.
