Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1 Access Administration
Novell Access Manager 3.1 SSLVPN Server
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Interim Release 1 applied

Situation

From within the SSLVPN configuration, administrator configured a new CIC Windows Firewall
application name. Selected the application so that only the registry key attribute was configured
(other service, process, and absolute file entry options were deleted). Admin then configured
the attribute and clicked ok. The page returns following warning:

"Unable to process the request.Invalid characters used in the url".

However, the registry key attribute remains under the application with blank fields.Deleting the
operation fails and no additional attributes may be added (Cancel and delete options for registry
key attribute all fails).

At the same time, if we configure another application in the default Windows CIC category, and
select a new application to configure a a registry attribute. The application by default will
display all the attribute types. If we try and 'Cancel' the page or 'Delete' the attributes, the
above warning will be displayed again.

No error found in JCC logs.
In the app_sc logs on the Admin Console (/opt/novell/devman/share/logs directory) the following
error was shown for the operations

"com.volera.vcdn.webui.sc.core.UIManager(M)log(Msg)key
sslvpn.hicapplication.msg.emptyregoperatorname not found in
resources.volsc.SystemControllerResources"

Resolution

Do not use the registry option within the Windows CIC policy - use service, process or absolute file instead. With 3.1 IR1, an issue exists with the"<", "<=", ">" and ">=" characters that is causing this. It will be fixed in IR2.
