Environment

Novell GroupWise 8

Situation

Viewing emails in the Plain Text view, that were originally viewed with the HTML view, can cause spaces between words in the message body to be removed.
Spaces between words are removed from email.
Spaces between words are stripped from email.

Resolution

Fixes have been placed into GroupWise 8.0.1

Additional Information

There are two ways to duplicate this behavior, both are essentially the same. One seems to happen when the use of Bold font is used.

Steps to duplicate:

1) Without the use of Bold font.
  1. Have 2 users, 1 with HTML and the default view and one with Plain Text.
  2. Send an email between the two users, sending it from the HTML user to the Plain Text user.
  3. The Plain Text user replies to the email from the HTML user.
  4. The HTML user opens the reply in HTML mode and changes the view to Plain Text.  Spaces may now be stripped out.
2) With the use of Bold font.
  1. Create a new email, address it to yourself.
  2. Change view to plain text.
  3. Type some text.
  4. Turn on bold (ctrl-b), space bar, more text.
  5. Space bar, turn off bold(ctrl-b), more text.
  6. Send email.
  7. Reply to email and send.
  8. Open reply and change view to plain text. There is now a space missing between the bold text and the plain text.
