Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1 Installation - Agent

Situation

Goal: To limit the available realms available for the end user in a multi-realm ZCM Zone, so the end user does not have to know what Domain or Tree they are apart of.

Resolution

For 10.2.2 and later see TID 3255358.

Prior to 10.2.2 there is only a workaround for this.
Enable a registry setting under  "HKLM\Software\Novell\Zenworks\ZenLgn\History\CachedUserZenNames"; create a REG_SZ value name in the form of "DomainName\Username" where DomainName is the name of the domain that the windows user will login too, and Username is simply the name of the Windows user.  The data for the value will be the user's ZENworks name in the form of "RealmName\Username" where RealmName is the name of the ZENworks usersource, and the Username is the name within that user source.  Note that the ZENworks username portion of the RealmName\Username data is not used, only the Realm name.  The default username is always that of the Windows user name.  If the Windows user is not in a domain environment, then just use the local machine name for the domain name. It would be necessary to create an entry for every windows username that will log into the workstation.
