Subject lines in emails contain words that are joined together

Environment

Novell GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) 8 Hot Patch 1
Novell GroupWise Client 8 Hot Patch 1

Situation

  • Email replies received have words concatenated or joined together.
  • Spaces between words have been truncated out.
  • It may be noted that in the mime file, the truncation occurs at the point of a line wrap.
  • Subject lines are over 60 characters long and contain multiple words.

Resolution

A fix for this issue has been placed into GroupWise 8.0.1.

Additional Information

This is problem is actually caused by the GroupWise Client itself and not the GWIA.  The client in some situations will actually build the mime file itself and not the GWIA.  In this case, it is triggered when images or graphics are included in the message body and the subject line appears to have over 60 characters comprising seperate words.  Signatures including graphics can also trigger this.  It appears to only affect two words and not every word in the subject.
