Environment
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2)
Situation
Windows domains do not allow duplicate user names. How can you prevent duplicate names in a Domain Services for Windows setup?
Resolution
This can be done using the iManager Unique Name Plugin.
1. Download and intall the Plug-in. (It's not installed by default.)
2. Restart tomcat.
3. Select the Unique Zone Role.
4. Select Configure Unique Zone.
5. Choose "Within the Selected Containers" and add the domain container.
6. Select "User Objects Only".
7. Select "Ok" to complete the process.
Note: This will only prevent duplicate names when iManager is used to create users. Other utilities, e.g. Console One, could still create them.
