Environment

Novell iPrint
Novell Distributed Print Services (NDPS)
Novell iManager
Novell iManager 2
Novell NetWare 6.5
Novell NetWare 6.5 Cluster
iPrint / NDPS Printer Driver Profile ( PDP )

Situation

When trying to create a Printer Driver Profile in iManager under the iPrint task, you receive the following error:

Novell iPrint

Error message: Winsock 11004 - The DNS has been found in the database, but its associated data is not correct.

error group: WINSOCK

Error code: 11004

Resolution

Fix #1: Add the IP address and server name to the \etc\hosts file or add it to your DNS Server.  To identify the name,  right Click on the Webpage and Show Source Code. There you can see which name resolves the NDPS Manager.

For a cluster environment add the IP address and server name to the \etc\hosts file of each server in the cluster that will host the print volume.

For example, if the print cluster volume is named cluster_printvol_server and the IP address for that cluster volume is 192.0.34.70, you would add the following line:
192.0.34.70 cluster_printvol_server

Fix#2  In some cases the above fix has not resolved the issue.  In these instances verify that the entry in the DNS table is correct for both the iPrint and iManager servers (if running on different servers).  Add an entry for server(s) in question if one does not currently exist.

Additional Information

iManager is trying to lookup the server name hosting the Manager in DNS.
