Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1
Situation
When logging into the ZCC using an Administrator which is based on a user source user, if an invalid password is used, an unhelpful error occurs:
ERROR: "com.novell.zenworks.datamodel.exceptions.InvalidAuthSourceCredentialsException: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C090334, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 52e, vece]"
This error does not occur if using a database Administrator with incorrect password.
Resolution
This is fixed in version 10.2 - see KB 7003225 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.2" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
Additional Information
This error is showing the underlying error 49 decimal for LDAP_INVALID_CREDENTIALS.
Users that have a setting in their AD accounts restricting available login machines can generate the LDAP error code 49 if they are attempting a login on a machine that is not allowed even with a valid password.
