Environment
Novell NetStorage
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 8
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 7
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 6
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2)
Situation
In a mixed environment, with NetWare 6.5 running NetStorage, accessing an NSS volume on an OES2 server, users can successfully log in, and can view folders, but they appear empty.
Logging in to the server with Client32, both folders and files may be seen and accessed.
The only users affected are users that existed in eDirectory before the NSS volume on OES2 was introduced. New users do NOT experience this problem.
Resolution
The trustees of the NSS volume are NOT held in eDirectory, and are held in an XML file on the OES2 Linux Server. The trustees of NSS on the OES2 server need to be updated, which is done as follows:
1. Login to a command prompt on the OES2 server as root
2. Enter this command: ncpcon nss resync=<volume name>
-where <volume name> is the name of the NSS volume that needs to have its trustees updated.
