Server Inventory results are not stored

Environment

Situation

ZSM installed on server after ZDM has been installed

Inventory for NetWare servers is not stored

ERROR: "2085: Unable to transfer the Inventory scanning results through the .str file"

Resolution

Workaround:
The Server name part of the Scan Directory Path needs to be changed from the CIFS name ([server name_W]) to the NetWare name ([server name]), e.g., instead of MYSERV_W it should be MYSERV

  1. In ConsoleOne, right-click the server Inventory Service object"Inventory Service_[server name]", and choose "properties"
  2. Note the Scan Directory Path, see that the server name has"_W" appended. Click the "Browse" button to the right, and navigate your tree to find the volume object representing the volume where ZENworks is installed, and double-click. Continue through the path, double-clicking on "zenworks" and "Inv", then single-click"ScanDir" and click OK.
  3. You should now see the correct path for Scan Directory Path, click OK to save.

Additional Information

The install process can mistakenly use the CIFS name for the server when constructing the path for the scan directory. This does not occur if ZSM is installed before ZDM.
