Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2)

Situation

Linux OES2 DHCP server configured to provide option 78 (slp-directory-agent) and option 79 (slp-service-scope)

Lan traces show incoming DHCP Inform packet with request for options 78, 79. However the DHCP server fails to respond

Resolution

Server needs to be configured as an Authoritative Server.

Using iManager this can be done by using the "DHCP (OES Linux)" Plugin

- Select Server
- View/Modify Server option
- Select appropriate DHCP Server
- Under the "Settings" Tab Select ADD
- Select "Authoritative" and set it to "True"
- Save settings and restart DHCP server

Server should now respond to inform packets requesting SLPDA and Scope
