Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1

Oracke 10g Auto Archiving feature tuned on.

Situation

Archive logs for ZCM database instance of Oracle are getting huge and shutting down ZCM components

Discovery task of over 1000 + nodes causes tons of archive logs on the Oracle database server.

Unable to do tasks performed in the ZCC.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.2 - see KB 7003225 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.2" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

Note: Large Discovery tasks (many nodes to be discovered) or overly aggressive recurring discovery schedule (ex: repeat every hour) can cause any ZENworks database to grow or cause problems including Sybase and Microsoft SQL.
