Novell iPrint Client for Windows 5.12
Situation
The Novell iPrint Client for Windows 5.12 is available. The download package no longer includes an iPrint.ini file. The Novell iPrint Client for Windows 4.38 and earlier includes an iPrint.ini.
- Why doesn't the 5.12 client ship with that file?
- How can I use the features in the iPrint.ini (which shows version information regarding 4.x) with 5.12 client?
- Should I modify the "NovellWinVersion = 4.38" version number on the server's existing iPrint.ini?
Resolution
- Why doesn't the 5.12 client ship with that file?
The 5.12 client reads the iprint.ini that exists on the server, regardless of the NovellWinVersion.
- How can I use the features in the iPrint.ini (which shows version information regarding 4.x) with 5.12 client?
Same answer as above.
- Should I modify the "NovellWinVersion = 4.38" version number on the server's existing iPrint.ini?
The iPrint.ini version values must stay at 4.38. This version is for older clients to make use of. The iPrint Client version 4.20 and later don't read the "NovellWinVersion = 4.38" value, or other version values found in the iPrint.ini, but rather in the version.ini. These values are used for client auto-update purposes.
