Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1

Situation

  1. Can't install ZRS reporting with error:
    C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\share\java/bin/java:: OUT: SEVERE: The local device UID file appears to be corrupted
  2. loader-messages.log fills up with error:
    [DEBUG] [1/12/09 9:31:59 PM] [] [Loader.InventoryStorerAMModule]

  3. novell-zenworks-configure -c SystemStatus returns:
    Severe: <GUID number> where GUID number is the GUID found in guid.txt

Resolution

Workaround:
 
Find the GUID in the ZCC for the Server on the Server Device Details page.  Compare with deviceguid and guid.txt  file in %ZENWORKS_HOME%\conf and GUID listed in ziswin GUI.  If all of these are the same except guid.txt has an invalid value, stop the ZENworks services, rename guid.txt to make a backup and copy deviceguid to guid.txt .  Restart the services.
