Situation
System Update deployment is applied to server but it remains in the Update Assigned status. Agent Last Contact date was several weeks old. Ran zac ref to refresh the agent on the server and checked the logs.
In the /var/opt/novell/log/zenworks/loader-messages.log: Update has been postponed...only directly assigned devices will receive this update until the update is assigned to the System Update stages
In the /opt/novell/zenworks/logs/LocalStore/zmd-messages.log set to debug (zac log level debug):
[DEBUG] [01/07/2009 02:49:53.593] [3482] [ZenLinuxDaemon] [-1281377376] [] [RegistrationManager] [] [Error during device registration: Unexpected server result. Server code: -37. Server message Newer agent version than server version: a5a9332e99d781816eb6300363520553]
Resolution
The agent version as noted in the /etc/opt/novell/zenworks/version.txt (Windows: %ZENWORKS_HOME%) was old.
Compare value in version.txt with the actual packages installed.
Windows: msilist (see additional information section)
Linux: rpm -qa |grep novell-zenworks
If the versions don't match up, manually update the versions.txt file to reflect the correctly installed version of the agent, then run zac ref.
