Selecting Satellite Server for imaging enables content on the device Zicon property page

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1

Situation

When you add a Satellite Server in the server hierarchy and disable content and collection but enable imaging services, the ZCC shows that the device is disabled as a CDP (Content Distribution Point) but the Zicon properties on the device itself shows Content Distribution Point module as Running and a content-repo folder is maintained on the device.

Resolution

This is working as designed since inventory services require a subset of content distribution functionality.

Additional Information

The imaging role implicitly requires content replication to be active on the satellite server.  But this subset of content replication does not make it a content server because no bundle content can be explicitly assigned to the satellite server that has only an imaging role.

Only system content such as Images and System Update files are replicated on these servers.

So the ZCC is correct in not showing the content role.
