Cannot install BorderManager 3.9 SP1 on NetWare 6.5 SP8, Minumum Requirements Check fails

While performing a new install of BorderManager 3.9 SP1 on NetWare 6.5 SP8, the Minimum Requirements Check reports the installed versions of LDAP and eDirectory as "8.8.4," and the required versions as "87.3.1" and "87.3.9" respectively.  Because "8.8.4" is smaller than "87.3.1," the installation cannot proceed.

This issue does not occur on NetWare 6.5 SP7 or earlier, so one option is to install NetWare 6.5 SP7, install BorderManager 3.9 SP1, then upgrade NetWare 6.5 to SP8.  However, if the server has already been upgraded to SP8, the following workaround will allow the BorderManager installation to complete:

1. At the NetWare server console, run the following command:
   

   load prodsync menu 

   This opens a graphical interface to edit the product.dat file
   
   
2. Select eDirectory from the menu, hit enter, and modify the version using the following format: 88.4.0
   
   
3. Hit ESC and save the changes
   
   
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the LDAP entry
   
   
5. Run the BorderManager install and the Minimum Requirements Check will now show the correct versions
   
   
6. After the BorderManager install completes, be sure to set the product versions back to original format (see steps 2-4)
