Situation

No Operating System is Currently Installed on this computer message pops up after POST
No Operating System is Currently Installed on this computer message pops up after the fresh installation
Operating System Not Found message after POST
Operating System Not Found message after fresh installation
Dell's utility partition is acting as a Primary Boot Partition

Resolution

The following mentioned steps are only applicable in a fresh installation scenario. Do not try this TID during any upgrade as it may result in data loss.
  1. Boot the server using Novell NetWare 6.5 Overlay CD or DVD.
  2. Once NetWare Installation screen comes up, choose the appropriate language in which the installation is to be performed and press Enter.
  3. At Select the regional settings for the server screen select the appropriate Country Code, Code Page and Keyboard and press "Continue".
  4. At License Agreement Screen press F10 to Accept the License.
  5. At Welcome to the NetWare 6.5 server installation screen select the Manual installation option and select "Continue" to proceed.
  6. At Prepare boot partition screen select "Modify", delete all the available partitions in the list (Including Dell's Utility partition) by selecting the partition and pressing the Del key.
  7. Once all partitions are deleted the server will show only Free Space in the list.
  8. Select the Free Space and press Enter. It will prompt to allocate the size for the new DOS partition that is to be created.
    Fill in the amount of space (Minimum 1 GB, recommended 2 GB) and hit 'Enter'.
  9. Once the above mentioned step is performed system will format the boot partition, click 'Continue' once the boot partition is created.
    After performing the above mentioned steps, continue the installation.
