Situation

NetBIOS Name resolution for Windows servers is extremely slow
Very slow access of Microsoft shares from Novell Client Workstations

Resolution

  1. Right Click My Network Places or Network Neighborhood and click Properties.
  2. Click Advanced | Advanced Settings.
  3. Click Provider Order tab.
  4. Under Network Providers, move Microsoft Windows Network to the top of the list.
  5. Click OK.
