Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1

Situation

OES2 SP1 support with ZEN 7
 
ERROR (running  /opt/novell/zenworks/bin/ZDMstart -status):
ZENworks Imaging Service
       Component novell-zmgserv is Stopped
 
Devices can't image using PXE or bootcd.
 
 

Resolution

OES 2 SP1 Linux has been tested, and is supported on, on ZEN7 SP1 IR3a Hot Patch 3 and higher


Known Issue: Imaging on OES 2 SP-1 64-bit does not function, due to incompatibility between ZENworks code and 64-bit eDirectory.

Resolution: Fixed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management on Linux Service Pack 1 Interim Release 4, see KB 3484245 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support


Workaround (if you have not upgraded to ZDML7SP1IR4):

Obtain novell-zenworks-zmgservices-dhost-7.0.1-7.x86_64.rpm from https://download.novell.com which can be seen as "ZDML7SP1_IR3aHP3_Patch Imaging zmgservices-dhost 64 bit" and follow the installation instructions contained in the readme for this patch.
