ZENworks Agent service fails to start on managed agent workstations due to .net proxy auto discovery

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1

Situation

Agent service fails to load ZenworksWindowsService and times out on first try.  Very slow logins with timeout 503 errors in zmd-messages.log due to .net auto proxy being set.
 

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.1.2 - see KB 7001914 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.1.2" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

The Agent is attempting to use a proxy to contact the ZENworks server although no proxy is set with zac sp .  The only way to know this is happening is via a LAN trace and see that shows the agent https requests are targeted to proxy and not to the ZENworks server.  If no proxy should be used for agents connecting to the ZENserver, ensure that proxycfg shows no proxy, and that zac sp shows no proxy.
