Environment

Novell ZENworks 7.5 Asset Management - ZAM7.5

Situation

Incorrect workstation count for a  generic component workstation  drilldown report within the Web Console

Resolution

Fixed in ZENWorks Asset Management Interim Release 16 or newer.

Interim Releases can be scheduled to run automatically or can be downloaded manually at https://download.novell.com .   The Interim releases can be set up within the ZAM Manager for the Task server to check the site on a scheduled basis, and download and apply them automatically. Please refer to the Help Section for details of how to set up automatic downloads if desired.

Each interim release is cumulative. If Interim Release 16 is not available due to a newer interim release being placed on the website, be assured that the code needed is in the later release.

Additional Information

An example is listed below:

In the WebConsole,  go to the Workstation Inventory -> System List, All Departments. Only one machine is listed.

Drill into the machine record, finding this machine's list of components. Scroll down to any of the generic components (eg USB Ports, Printers, Logical Drives, Network Drivers, etc) and drill in.

The next window shows "(some number of) workstations with (whichever generic component)", with (some number of) incorrectly being the number of generic components of that type instead of 1 . Following is a list of the same number of duplicates of this workstation (there should be only a single item here).

In the case of USB ports (In this example there are eight), listed are  "8 workstations with USB Port" followed by eight duplicates of this workstation. There are 7 seven for Logical Drives, two for Printers, and fifteen for Network Drivers.

It's only generic-type components that do this, but it happens with any type components.
