Environment

Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise 8
Novell GroupWise 32 bit Client

Situation

After a content check a shared folder, of which the owner is a resource, is deleted.

In the gwcheck.log (verbose) you will see the following message:

Problem 71- Sender "dom1:po1:res1" of shared folder "test" invalid
          - deleting record

          - Item 72 deleted successfully

The user will receive a mail that the shared folder has been removed. This mail will have the following content:

The shared folder "test" has been deleted because the sender "dom1:po1:res1" is no longer valid.

The resource that has shared the folder, has a visibility of none, domain or postoffice.

Resolution

This has been resolved in GroupWise 8 Support Pack 1 or later.

For Resources created before the patch that will contain this fix, the visibility will need to be changed to System, wait the synchronization to be completed, and then the visibility can be changed back to none.

Additional Information

Steps to duplicate:
  1. create a domain DOM1 and a PostOffice PO1.
  2. create a domain DOM2 and a PostOffice PO2 and start all 4 agents.
  3. under PO1 create a user USER1 and a resource RES1. USER1 should be the owner of the resource. The resource should have a visibility of none.
  4. under PO2 create a user USER2
  5. start your GroupWise client and log in as USER1
  6. proxy to the RES1 and create a folder TEST under cabinet and share this with USER2.
  7. logout as USER1 and login as USER2.
  8. accept the shared folder notification. You will see the shared folder under cabinet.
  9. logout as USER2
  10. run a structure/content gwcheck on PO2. Send the results to adminitrator and individual users.
  11. after the gwcheck has finished on PO2, login as USER2.
  12. you will have received 2 mails from gwcheck. One will contain the gwcheck log and one will have the title "Shared Folder Delete Notification" and if you open the email you will see: "The shared folder "test" has been deleted because the sender "dom1:po1:res1" is no longer valid.". Under cabinet you will no longer see the shared folder.
  13. logout as USER2 and login as USER1 and proxy to the RES1.
  14. in the properties of the shared folder TEST you will still see that the folder is shared to USER2.

You can reproduce the same problem when you set the visibility to DOMAIN and POSTOFFICE for RES1.
If you repeat the same steps with a user and not a resource, the shared folder will not being removed.

In the gwcheck log you will see the following:

Problem 71- Sender "dom1:po1:res1" of shared folder "test" invalid
          - deleting record
          - Item 72 deleted successfully
