Environment

Novell Identity Manager 3.5.1
Novell Identity Manager 3.5
Novell Identity Manager 3.0

Situation

When deleting a Novell Identity Manager Driver that is associated to a large number of users and/or groups, it may cause high utilization on any eDirectory servers holding copies of the users.

Resolution

This happens because the of the need to modify each user and remove the association reference.
To prevent this, follow these steps to remove an IDM driver.
- Disable the driver (this cleans up the tao file and any other dx*.lg or dx*.db files associated to the driver)
- Then only when the network load and eDirectory load is minimal, remove the driver object.
