Cannot edit the Licensed Product Notes field in ZCM 10.1

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1 Inventory
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1 Migration
Microsoft SQL 2005
Novell ZENworks 7.5 Asset Management - ZAM7.5

Situation

After migrating from ZAM 7.5 to ZCM on a system that uses SQL Server, attempting to update the Licensed Product Notes field gives an error

ERROR: "Unable to save changes. A licensed product with the specified manufacturer, name, and version already exists"

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.1.1 - see KB 7001406 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.1.1" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Workaround:
  1. Modify either the Manufacturer, Licensed Product or Version and save changes
  2. Modify notes and restore the Manufacturer/Product/Version to its original value
