Environment

Single Server Tree
Netware 6.0 SP5
eDirectory 8.6.2 OR Later

Situation

The cu was mirgrating the Netware 6.0 SP5 server to Linux OES2 SP1 server. And while authenticating the server it was giving LDAP error. Could not connect to target server, LDAP authentication failed.

TCPCON will not show 636 Port listening. It will only show 389 Port listening.

Resolution

1) Check the LDAP Server and Group objects for that server, it was fine.

2) Then on the dstrace with  +ldap  +tags  +time options and saw the error related to SAS object.
  Error:- SAS Register Failed <13>

3) PKIDIAG was not install on this server so install the pkidiag utility for the below mention link.
  https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=UEy9_hwBX_I~

4) Delete the SAS and SSL objects and run pkidiag with 4,5,6 and 0 option. Then see if it re-created the SAS and SSL.

5) Then in autoexec.ncf file looked for NILE.NLM and it was not there.

6) So to bounce the files in the following order :-
A) unload SAS.NLM (will ask you to unload rconag6 First ) so 1st unload rconag6 if used.
B) unload nldap.NLM
C) load SAS.NLM
D) load nldap.NLM
E) load NILE.NLM

7) In dstrace you will not find any more -13 error related to SAS.

8) Then in the Autoexec.ncf do the following modification :-
IT need to put it back in. It needs to be in front of the sas.nlm. I would recommend they load it after they mount the volumes.

9) Then reboot the server to take the effect for SAS.

Additional Information

NOTE :-  For some reson the customer took out the nile.nlm out of the autoexec.ncf. They need to put it back in. It needs to be before sas.nlm. I would recommend they load it after they mount the volumes.
