Error:  Error:173
Error:  Internal Error. Please Run schinst once more.

Resolution

Novell is investigating a possible change to SCHINST.NLM to correct this issue.  In the meantime, one solution that has shown to be effective is to update the cross-platform DS APIs.  NETNLM32.NLM 5.05h with module date Oct 8, 2002 contains a change which increases the likelihood that the same replica which was used to create the object will be contacted to modify it afterwards.

NETNLM32.NLM and the other modules it depends upon are normally found in OS support packs or in downloads named NWLIBx.EXE, where x is a number that is incremented each time additional updates occur.  The minimum update needed for this change is NWLIB4.EXE, or NetWare 5.1 SP6, or NetWare 6.0 SP3.  At the time this document was written, those OS support packs were in limited beta, not generally available.

Additional Information

SCHINST created the NFAUUser but then went to find and modify it without making sure to communicate with the same DS replica.  The object hadn't synced to the other replicas, so it was not found.  Due to the failure to properly set up the NFAUUser, SCHINST made a call to remove it, which went to the right replica and successfully deleted the object.
