Situation

Cluster node hangs when loading cluster services as a VMWare ESX guest.

The cluster would hang when executing the hangcheck_timer in the /etc/opt/novell/ncs/bin/ldncs file.

Resolution

Use the kernel boot parameter "clock=pmtmr" as the system loads.
