PDA Connect errors during Synch with "Unknown Error"

Novell GroupWise 7

Situation

During the synch of the GroupWise Address Book to a Palm Treo 755, running Palm OS.
 
PDA Connect errors with "Unknown Error" and stops.
 
Error: "Unknown Error"
 
The PDA Connect SyncLogPrev.html log file shows:
50:54 CGWTransContact::GoToRecord : Caught unknown exception.
50:54 Enter CGWTransBase::GetFirstErrorMessage
50:54 Enter CGWTransBase::GetNextErrorMessage
50:54 CRSyncUtil::FeedProfileShim2Trans : SetTranslatorProfile Not Supported

50:54 CRSyncUtil::LogFatalTransError : 'GoToRecord()' API of 'GrpWse' translator for 'Contacts' application returned empty error

Resolution

From PDA Connect, select Tools | Log | Log Level - set this to 3 - Debug Data Log | Ok.
 
Attempt to synch again.
 
Now after the error appears, go to Tools | View Log.
 
Scroll to the very bottom of the log and find the Error. (See above Log example for help in finding the error.)
Now, scroll up from the Error and notice what the last record being logged was.
 
In this case, with contacts you will see a First Name, Last Name, Address etc.
For example:

Now go to Both GroupWise and the Palm device and look for this last user's Record.
 
Look for any extraneous characters or anything out of the ordinary.
 
In this case in the GroupWise Address Book for this record we found a middle name of  "& Dalhia".
We removed the & and saved the record.
 
From then on GroupWise PDA Connect Synch worked.
