Environment

Novell iPrint Client for Windows
Novell iPrint for Linux
Novell iPrint for NetWare

Situation

Does iPrint Client Management (iCM) reinstall the iPrint printer with each login?
How does iCM handle scenarios when multiple users log into the same workstation?

Resolution

iPrint Client Management (iCM) does not re-install the printer each time the user logs into the workstation.  iCM identifies that the printer is scheduled to be installed for the user, but also recognizes that the printer is already installed to the workstation, and therefore a printer installation is not attempted.

An exception to this would be if multiple users log into the same workstation and the users have conflicting iCM settings.  For example, UserA is configured to have PrinterX installed and UserB is configured to have PrinterX removed from the workstation.  In this scenario, PrinterX will be installed and uninstalled as UserA and UserB alternate their login to the workstation.

If UserB had no iCM configuration, or if UserB had iCM configured to install other printers, then the printer(s) will not be continually uninstalled and re-installed.  The printer(s) would be installed once and not change.
