How to manually import the 10.1 system updater for client updates

Error message The update failed because the pre-requisite (ZCM 10.1.0) was not available. Download the required update and retry displayed in ZCC when applying 10.1.1 update to 10.1.0.

System Updates for agents aren't working for any of these reasons:
  1. During a 10.1 upgrade the System Update import fails
  2. the choice was made to opt out of the System update import
  3. 10.1 was installed from media and existing 10.0.3 clients re-register but don't receive updates since the install does not trigger System update import.


To manually import the System Update for managed agents, run the following:
zman sui "\program files\novell\zenworks\install\downloads"  (or whatever is defined for %zenworks_home%\install\downloads).
The path points to the location of updates.xml.
If the ZCM 10.1 was installed (not upgraded) from 10.1 media, copyupdates.xmland theupdate-10.1.0.xmlfiles from the 10.1 installation CD in the\commonsubdirectory to"%zenworks_home%/install/downloads"before running the zman suicommand.

Additional Information

Whenzman suiis run the following should be seen:
The update(s) contained in \program files\novell\zenworks\install\downloads will begin importing shortly.  You may use ZCC to track the status of your import

After that, the managed agent updates can be managed in the ZCC Configuration System Updates as usual.
