Environment
Novell ZENworks Desktop Management
Citrix Presentation Server
ESRI GIS ArcMap
Citrix Presentation Server
ESRI GIS ArcMap
Situation
The ArcMap application is made available from the Citrix server to the client machines via ZENworks NAL (Terminal Server application object) using the Citrix Web Client.
ArcMap runs on the Citrix server without issue (in full 16 & 32 bit colour). However, ArcMap runs in only 265 colours from the client machine when run from the NAL object, or from the command line.

Resolution
Appsrv.ini which is created in the %APPDATA%\ICAClient\ directory on the client machine does not contain the ‘DesiredColor=’ option for the ArcMap application.
Create a simple ZENworks application object:
- Set 'Distribution Options' to Application Files
- Create an entry that points to a preconfigured appsrv.ini and writes it to target directory %APPDATA%\ICACLIENT\
- Configure file to ‘Copy if Different’
Add ZENworks application to the ‘Application Dependencies’ of the ArcMap application object.
