Situation
What would happen if IDM wasn't able to read/write/open the tao file?
Resolution
If or when IDM isn't able to read/write/open the tao file, etc it is reported in dstrace, and IDM tries to recover as best it can. Depending on how successful it is, the driver either does an automatic resync or goes into cache overflow mode, which then requires a manual resync.
