Situation
iFolder 3.2 Client connects to iFolder 3.6 Enterprise Server, gets prompted for update. After selecting Yes, a warning message is displayed:
iFolder Client upgrade failed. Please contact administrator.
and the upgrade fails.

and the upgrade fails.
Resolution
Please check the folder:
<server-binary-path>/lib/simias/web/update/windows (usually /opt/novell/ifolder3/lib/simias/web/update/windows)
It should contain a soft link to the client binary, for example:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 53 2007-11-06 05:53 ifolder3-3.6.0.7171.1-7-setup.exe -> /srv/www/novell/clients/ifolder3/ifolder3-setup.exe
The file version.config should contain following tag:
<filename>ifolder3-3.6.0.7171.1-7-setup.exe</filename>

Auto upgrade process does not upgrade local simias database (links
between ifolders and local folders). It is an equivalent of manual
un-installation of old client (which removes simias database) and then
installation of new.
