Situation

Customer was attempting to install the Designer for Identity Manager 3.5 on Microsoft Windows.  The installation starts, displays the first screen where you select the installer language, click OK, then the following error message appears:

"Install User Interface Mode Not Supported. Unable to load and to prepare the installer in GUI mode"

Resolution

The local Windows account username had a special character in it. On this occasion, it was an exclamation mark - ! -

Using a user account without any special characters allowed the installation to complete successfully.

Additional Information

There are numerous reports on various forums of this issue occurring with several other vendors products, all of which use the zero-g installer.  At the time of writing no documentation supporting or disproving this from zero-g could be found.  It is therefore suggested that the current resolution is to simply work around the issue by avoiding usernames with special characters when installing this product.
