iPrint Redirection removes printer, does not install printer in it's place

Environment

Novell iPrint Client for Windows

Situation

Configure Printer Agent Redirection to redirect a NetWare 6.5 SP7 iPrint printer to an OES 2 Linux iPrint printer. If the two iPrint printers are in different Trees and have different names (CNs), then the iPrint client will remove the installed iPrint printer from the workstation, and will not install the redirected iPrint printer in its place.

Resolution

Reported to engineering.

Additional Information

Steps to duplicate the problem.

1. Install the latest iPrint client to a Windows workstation
- The 4.26 iPrint client has a different bug
that will cause the same symptom.
Be sure to use the latest iPrint client.
2. Install an iPrint printer from the NetWare /ipp page
3. Configure that installed NetWare iPrint printer to redirect to a Linux iPrint printer.
- NetWare's iManager -> Manage Print Manager -> Printer Agent Redirection
- the Linux PA must have a different name
- the Linux Print Manager must be in a different Tree
- because it is in a different tree, browsing for the redirected printer is not an option.
Type in the redirection URL (ie; ipp://myLinuxServer.myCompany.com/ipp/myLinuxPrinter)

4. Open the Workstation's Printers and Faxes Window. Observe that the NetWare iPrint printer is removed. The expected behavior is that the Linux iPrint printer will be installed to replace the remove printer, but that will not happen. The iPrint printer will be removed with nothing installed to replace it.

NOTE: If the PAs are in the same Tree, or if they share the same name, the Linux iPrint printer will be auto installed to replace the removed NetWare iPrint printer.
