ZMD fails to apply patches mirrored from Novell using ZLM

Environment

Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management - ZLM7.2

Situation

Mirroring all updates for sles10sp1 into a zlm server,and then deploying it to a sles10sp1 device fails, in fact it breaks the system.

Resolution

There are two ways to address this problem:
Solution 1:

Import the contents of SLES10 SP1 DVD into a catalog in the ZLM server.
Re-mirror the SLES10-SP1-Updates (to re-generate the package metadata and store the complete dependencies).
Then assign the SLES10-SP1-Updates-Bundle and SLES10-SP1-DVD catalog to the device

Solution 2: - Enable the 'store-filedeps' setting for the server, so that it doesn't filter out any dependency (/etc/opt/novell/zenworks/pkgmgt-conf.xml, see ZLM 7.2 IR2 Administration guide for details).

Re-mirror the SLES10-SP1-Updates (to re-generate the package metadata and store the complete dependencies).
Then assign the SLES10-SP1-Updates-Bundle to the device
Device should have SLES10-SP1 source added to it for the bundle to apply.
