Situation

Purpose:
How to perform -OT database repair
Symptoms:
Stuck obituaries on servers
Error - 637 "Previous Move in Progress" while performing partition operations

Resolution

On NetWare Platform:
  1. 1. Load DSREPAIR -OT | Advanced options | Repair local DS database | set Lock the databse during entire repair = Yes Hit F10 to start the repair. Continue the repair process till '0' errors or till the same number of errors are reported
  2. Unlock the database
  3. Continue step - 1 & 2 on all servers in the replica ring of the problem partitions.
On Windows Platform:
  1. Start the NDS Services applet from the Control Panel
  2. Highlight DSREPAIR.DLM.
  3. Enter -OT (must be in CAPS) in the Startup Parameters field and Click START
  4. Click Repair in the menu and then Local Database Repair
  5. Make sure "Lock the databse during entire repair" is checked and then start the repair
  6. Unlock the database
  7. Perform steps - 1 -> 6 on all servers in the replica ring of the problem partitions
On Linux / UNIX Platform:
  1. At the command prompt, type ndsrepair -R -Ad -OT (ndsrepair and it's switches are case sensitive). Continue the repair process till getting '0' errors or repeatedly getting same number of errors
  2. Unlock the database of the server
  3. Continue step - 1 & 2 on all servers in the replica ring of the problem partitions
