Environment
Novell Identity Manager 3.5.1
Novell Identity Manager Driver - LDAP
Driver and Engine on SLES 10.1
Novell Identity Manager Driver - LDAP
Driver and Engine on SLES 10.1
Situation
- The LDAP driver causes the servers CPU to go to 100% utilization when the driver was started.
- Only this one LDAP driver caused high CPU utilization
- The driver was setup to be a Subscriber only driver. All Publisher filter classes and attributes were set to Notify.
- Polling interval on the driver configuration varied. If set to 2 seconds High Utilization never subsided. If set to 60 seconds then High Utilization would occur for a duration of 10-12 seconds every 60 second interval.
Resolution
On the driver configuration for the LDAP driver there is a setting called "Publication Method". By defalut this setting is set to "Changelog". Since this driver is a subscriber only driver then changing this setting to "No Publisher" solved the high utilization.
